Take an early boat
The first boat at 8 AM is a hidden gem: the lake is often still in mist, the echo trumpet feels especially magical and you have St. Bartholomae almost to yourself.
To Salet instead of just Bartholomae
Most only go to St. Bartholomae. If you have time, continue to Salet and walk 15 min to the quiet Obersee – the most beautiful spot in the national park.
Salt mine on rainy days
The Berchtesgaden salt mine is the perfect rainy-day programme: 90 minutes underground with mine train, slides and an underground salt lake – fun for the whole family.
Kehlsteinhaus in the morning
Buses to Kehlsteinhaus ("Eagles Nest") depart from Obersalzberg. Mornings usually have clearer views and less crowded buses – tickets on site.
Parking at Koenigssee
The main car park in Schoenau is often full by 10 AM in summer. Arrive early or use the Watzmann shuttle from Berchtesgaden.
